The 68th Annual Watermelon Festival is over, and it was the best ever! We’ll start planning next year’s in Spring of 2019.
Whether you want to participate in the Watermelon Pageants, watch the annual parade, join the Car Show, or just eat a bunch of home-grown melons, the Monticello-Jefferson Chamber is the place to start. Ultimate Air Dogs
This event is the exciting sport of dock diving by ultimate dogs! The Chamber will set up a pool at Gary Wright’s Downtown Club (behind Rio Grande Restaurant) and our City of Monticello will fill it with 20,000 gallons of water!

Dog Photo Contest
We’re also having a Photo Contest for your dog. Download the application, and submit with your favorite 5×7 dog photo to the Chamber of Commerce! Entry fee is only $5 and $5 more enters you into the Best Overall Watermelon Theme Category! Winners will be announced on June 15th at 6:30 pm at the Ultimate Dogs Show!

Essay Writing Scholarship 2018
New Deadline: May 23rd at 4:30pm. Sponsored by Capital City Bank, this scholarship provides Jefferson County students with funding at the college or trade school of the student’s choosing. Review the criteria on the Writing Scholarship 2018 page.
Watermelon Festival Parade

This is a fun, hilarious event. From inventors to creators, clowns to muscle, there’s something for everyone in our Great American Bed Race.
This year’s race is sponsored by Gulf Coast Lumber / True Value.
It begins at 6:30 PM on June 8th at Mulberry Street. Be sure to get there early!
40th Annual Kiwanis 5K Run
The Kiwanis Club of Monticello, FL holds a 5k race every year at the Watermelon Festival. This year, the race starts is on Saturday, June 16, 2018 and the Start Time is at 8:15 AM.
Register at Eventbrite or Download Application and submit it by June 12 to get a T-shirt. Otherwise, you can register from 7 AM – 8 AM a the First United Methodist Church – Family Ministry Center (Corner of South Water Street & Hwy 90 West).

Baby Photo Contest
What could be cuter than babies with watermelons? Show off your child or children having fun with this kid-favorite fruit.
This contest is for fun and is not a professional photo contest. The judges will look for the baby photo that appeals to them and showcases the individual child, the festival and our community, rather than the quality and clarity of the photo.
All photos will be on display at a selected downtown storefront location, and awards will be presented at the Kick-Off Dinner on June 8. Parents of winning baby photos will be responsible for organizing and decorating a float for the Parade held Saturday, June 16th.
Applications and photo submissions must be received no later than 5:00 PM, Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Entries can be dropped off at the Monticello Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s car show will be held in the Farmers and Merchants Bank parking lot one block East of the Court House 10:00 am – 12:30 pm.
It is open to all vehicles, including antiques, classics, customs, street rods, trucks, late models and motorcycles. Free for spectators.
- $10 pre-registration or $15 at the show on Saturday 16 June 2018 for display
- $5 more to be Judged to win a trophy
