Watermelons are a rich part of Jefferson County’s economic and agricultural history. The whole town gets together to celebrate in the summers, and we’ve been doing this for over six decades now. We are already thinking about how to make the 2018 event better than ever.
Enjoy photos from past years in the Watermelon Festival Photo Gallery.
Whether you want to participate in the Watermelon Pageants, watch the annual parade, join the Car Show, or just eat a bunch of home-grown melons, the Monticello-Jefferson Chamber is the place to start. The Festival is always the 3rd weekend in June – 2018 will be June 15 & 16. Sign up for the Chamber Newsletter to stay informed!

Baby Photo Contest
What could be cuter than babies with watermelons? Show off your child or children having fun with this kid-favorite fruit.
This contest is for fun and is not a professional photo contest. The judges will look for the baby photo that appeals to them and showcases the individual child, the festival and our community, rather than the quality and clarity of the photo.
All photos will be on display at a selected downtown storefront location, and awards will be presented at the Kick-Off Dinner on June 8. Parents of winning baby photos will be responsible for organizing and decorating a float for the Parade held Saturday, June 16th.
Applications and photo submissions must be received no later than 5:00 PM, Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Entries can be dropped off at the Monticello Chamber of Commerce.
