The 4th Annual Jefferson County BBQ Festival has been scheduled for Saturday, November 3rd. It will be in Monticello at the Downtown Club (behind Rancho Grande).
Besides the famous BBQ Contest, we have the People’s Choice Constest as well as Pie Baking and Bakers Contests.
There will be a beer garden with college football games on. And don’t forget the Corn Hole Tournaments!
Attendees will be entertained by Baby Gray, a funky, rocking, soulful, bluesy, country pop band with Michelle Milligan and Bobby Kennedy.
The most notable of all contests, the BBQ Contest will challenge participants to cook chicken, ribs, pork butt and brisket.
They will be judged based on three criteria: presentation, tenderness and taste. A winner will be designated in each category, as well as a grand champion for all three categories. The purse for this year’s event is $5,000 as well as a one-of-a-kind trophy.

There is also a People’s Choice Contest where each cooking team will be given an 8-10 pound Boston Butt.
Cooks will return the meat in containers we provide to them. Festival goers will be given ballots so they can vote for their favorites.
Awards will be given to the winners at the Awards Ceremony at 7PM on Saturday. Get the details and rules, and fill in the entry form at the People’s Choice Entry Form page.
The Bakers Contest is where you break out those secret, family recipes for Pound Cake, Pecan Pie, Fruit Pies and Pumpkin Pie. There is a 50/50 cash prize, so encourage your friends to participate! Fill in the online entry form at the Bakers Contest Entry Form page.
And no southern gathering would be complete with a Cornhole Tournament! The Tournament starts at 7 PM, and there are cash prizes! $200 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd and $50 for 3rd. Get the rules and fill in the entry form at the Cornhole Tournament Entry Form page.
