An out of town company, going by the name of Hometown Productions, is calling local businesses in Monticello claiming to sell "official Jefferson County Map ad space". THEY ARE NOT SELLING THE OFFICIAL JEFFERSON COUNTY MAP sponsored by the Monticello - Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce. This year, 2012, we are in the planning stages to redo the Jefferson Guide and will sell ads after the Watermelon Festival. We may also do a small reprint of our official Jefferson County map and update a few ads so that the information is current, but a complete redo of the Jefferson County map is scheduled for 2013. It's up to you if you decide to advertise in the map mentioned above, but understand that the map in question is not a Chamber of Commerce project and is not distributed by the Chamber of Commerce. None of the advertising money spent on this map goes to the Chamber of Commerce. There is also a similar campaign by an outside company to advertise on large magnets. This is not a Chamber of Commerce venture, either. The ads for the Jefferson Guide and the new official Jefferson County map will be sold by Melanie at the Chamber of Commerce and not by an outside sales rep.
